Boards of directors from Southwest Airlines´ four large unions, representing nearly 38,000 of SWA´s approximately 50,000 employees, all completed votes of “no confidence” in the CEO and COO of the airline, the company said.
The representative organizations include the flight attendants (TWU 556), mechanics (AMFA), pilots (SWAPA), and Ground Operations (TWU 555) employees.
All four groups, representing nearly 80 percent of the company´s workforce, are frontline employees affected directly by the operational decisions of management.
The Southwest Airlines Pilots´ Association represents more than 8,300 pilots. Transport Workers Union 556 represents more than 14,500 flight attendants. Transport Workers Union Local 555 represents more than 11,500 ramp, operations, provisioning and freight agents. Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association represents more than 2,600 Southwest Airlines technicians.
