Delta Airlines has reported Delta SkyMiles Award redemptions are up by 13.8 percent compared to the same period in 2015, and expects more than one million award bookings for the summer travel months between June and August, the company said.
SkyMiles members fly on more Award tickets during summer than any other time of the year, with July on track to be a record-setting month.
While summer Award bookings are up, the average mileage redemption amount during the same period is down approximately seven percent, meaning customers are using fewer miles to travel. Delta continues to offer low-mileage award travel and has promoted seven award sales in 2016.
Most popular award destinations include London, San Francisco and Rome.
