Liberty Global, the world´s largest international TV and broadband company, has launched a new Gigabit broadband speed service in Warsaw for the benefit of its UPC Poland customers, the company said.
Warsaw is the second European city to launch this innovative service, following a similar roll-out in Bochum, Germany, in May.
The new Gigabit broadband speed service is made possible by the introduction of Liberty Global´s innovative ´Gigabit Connect Box´, which was developed in-house by the company´s Technology & Innovation team. In addition, the state-of-the-art network was upgraded to the new technology of DOCSIS 3.1, allowing for a much bigger data capacity, without the need for major capital investment.
The new broadband Internet Gigabit service is also accompanied by “Smart WiFi” software, which resides inside the ´Gigabit Connect Box´. It facilitates the use of more than 10 WiFi antennae in an adaptive way to intelligently manage the connection between Liberty Global´s ultrafast fibre-based network and each of the many connected devices in customers´ homes: smart TVs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, gaming devices and so on.
Liberty Global (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB and LBTYK) is the world´s largest international TV and broadband company, with operations in 10 European countries under the consumer brands Virgin Media, Unitymedia, Telenet and UPC.
