Sergio Rossi has appointed Paul Andrew as its new creative director, marking a significant development in the luxury footwear sector.
This move follows Andrew’s impressive tenure at Ferragamo, and he brings his innovative flair to this esteemed Italian brand.
Paul Andrew, originally from Berkshire, has a notable career in fashion. He mastered his craft at the Berkshire College of Art and Design before unveiling his first collection at London’s Graduate Fashion Week in 1999.
His career skyrocketed when he launched his own footwear brand in 2013. The following year, Andrew secured the $300,000 (£232,000) main prize from the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue Fashion Fund.
In 2016, Andrew joined the esteemed Italian luxury fashion label, Salvatore Ferragamo, as the design director for women’s shoes. His talents were soon recognised, leading to his promotion to the creative director role of womenswear in 2017.
By 2019, Andrew had expanded his influence further, assuming the position of creative director for all Ferragamo product categories. He was the first to hold this title since Salvatore Ferragamo himself led the brand until his demise in 1960.
After exiting Ferragamo in 2022, Andrew focused on relaunching his own brand.
In 2024, he embraced a new challenge with his appointment as creative director at Sergio Rossi. Andrew expressed delight in joining a brand renowned for Italian craftsmanship.
His objective is to innovate while preserving Sergio Rossi’s rich legacy in the luxury footwear sector.
Andrew’s appointment was met with enthusiasm, not just within the company but across the global fashion community. He is celebrated for blending innovative design with technical expertise.
Sergio Rossi’s CEO, Helen Wright, praised Andrew as a “vibrant and exciting talent”, poised to lead the brand into a new era.
With a keen eye on the future, Andrew aims to captivate both today’s and tomorrow’s clients through his creative vision.
Sergio Rossi, under Lanvin Group’s ownership, has shown financial resilience. In February, the company reported a modest 1% revenue increase for 2023, totalling €426m (£364m).
This financial health provides a stable foundation for Andrew to execute his creative strategies.
The company’s continuous growth reflects its potential to thrive under fresh leadership.
With Sergio Rossi’s esteemed heritage and Andrew’s creative prowess, expectations run high for future collections.
The brand stands to gain from this fusion of innovation and tradition, capturing the imagination of a broader audience.
Andrew’s role embodies a commitment to rejuvenating the brand’s appeal while honouring its time-honoured values.
Paul Andrew’s leadership is anticipated to infuse Sergio Rossi with a fresh vision while honouring its legacy.
Under his guidance, the brand is poised to navigate the evolving landscape of luxury fashion.
