JD Sports Fashion has strategically appointed US-based Prama Bhatt as a non-executive director, effective 23 September. Bhatt’s extensive experience and knowledge are seen as assets to the board.

Prama Bhatt brings over two decades of expertise in multi-channel retailing, significantly enhancing JD Sports’ board. Her previous roles include leading digital and ecommerce teams at prominent companies such as Kenneth Cole and Toys R Us. This rich background equips her to contribute substantially to JD Sports’ strategic objectives in the US market.
The appointment follows JD Sports’ recent acquisition of Hibbett, which is a pivotal part of the company’s US expansion plan. The $1.1 billion deal was completed in July, increasing North American revenues significantly.
This acquisition is expected to boost the group’s share of total sales in North America from 32% to 40%, solidifying its presence in this critical market.
Prama Bhatt will join the nominations committee, the remunerations committee, and JD’s US subsidiary board, Genesis Holdings.
