During his tenure in the legal field, Ian has advised on numerous high-stakes acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, and commercial contracts, some reaching up to £2 billion in value.
Ian’s career began at Nicholson Graham & Jones in 1992, and he later transitioned to Nabarro Nathanson in 1996. His journey continued as he managed his own firm, Ian Burton Legal, over the past four years. Notably, his career at US firm Paul Hastings in London was pivotal, contributing to the establishment of their London practice.
Highlighting the synergy between himself and Jurit, Ian expressed enthusiasm for joining the firm as he resumes his career after a brief hiatus. He noted, “I’m lucky enough to have worked with many different businesses over the last 30 years – both in the UK and internationally – and it was clear that there would be much by way of complementary skills and experience for me to bring to Jurit.”
Ian’s wide-ranging experience across sectors, such as oil and gas, healthcare, telecoms, pharmaceuticals, marine engineering, and financial services, positions him as a valuable asset as Jurit continues to expand its corporate and commercial services. This breadth of knowledge is highly regarded by Jeremy Glover, head of Jurit’s corporate practice, who commented on the strategic benefits that Ian’s international experience and business insight bring to the firm.
Operating from the City and remotely, like many of his peers at Jurit, Ian aims to leverage his connections, particularly in the US, to benefit inward investing clients. His efforts are seen as crucial by Jeremy Glover and Anthony Garrod in supporting the firm’s growth trajectory during this significant period of expansion.
Ian Burton’s arrival at Jurit LLP marks a strategic enhancement of the firm’s international and sectoral expertise.
