McGowan Environmental Engineering, now operating as McGowan Group Ltd, has implemented a significant organisational restructure. This rebranding initiative has resulted in the formation of three distinct business units: McGowan Infrastructure, McGowan Environmental, and Eco Cable Protect UK. The restructuring reflects a deliberate strategy to segregate the company’s growing cabling division from its traditional environmental restoration services.
The decision to restructure follows McGowan’s substantial contributions to the energy sector, notably the installation of 60km of high voltage underground cable for Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks. This project was a significant component of a £7.2 million initiative enhancing infrastructure across Inverness and Caithness. Such strategic projects have necessitated a more focused approach within their cabling operations.
Ross McGowan, the company’s founder, asserts that the new structure will enable better service delivery within the burgeoning energy infrastructure sector, which the McGowan Infrastructure unit will now exclusively handle. He emphasises the opportunities presented by the RIIO-ED2 price control programme, which governs outputs for electricity distribution network operators until 2028.
Additionally, McGowan Environmental continues to specialise in river and peatland restoration work, a sector in which it has built a solid reputation. Recent appointments, including operations manager Lyndsay Merson and project manager Gregor Allison, highlight the company’s commitment to bolstering its environmental services team.
At the group level, key leadership includes director Derek Mackay and commercial manager Malcom Weir, who oversee strategic developments and commercial operations. New roles have been established, such as those for senior project manager Stevie Mitchell, reflecting the company’s adaptation to expanding opportunities in both its primary sectors.
McGowan’s reorganisation strategically positions the company for sustained growth in both energy infrastructure and environmental restoration.
