Trans-Bridge Freight Services has acquired its first Carrier Transicold Vector eCool unit, marking a significant advancement in its logistics capabilities.
- The Vector eCool unit employs an electric-powered refrigeration system, primarily utilising energy generated by the trailer’s axle and brakes.
- This technology enhances the reliability and efficiency of transporting temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, crucial for maintaining product integrity.
- The advanced system allows for an emergency transition to diesel power, offering a dependable fallback during unforeseen delays.
- Located in Manchester, the trailer is pivotal for distributing pharmaceutical orders to Northern Ireland, traversing extensive routes.
Trans-Bridge Freight Services has taken delivery of its inaugural Carrier Transicold Vector eCool unit, setting a new precedent in the transportation of sensitive pharmaceutical products. The Vector eCool unit is distinguished by its ability to predominantly operate on electricity by harnessing energy from the trailer’s axle and brakes. This sustainable approach not only reduces carbon emissions but also offers a future-forward solution to refrigerated transport.
Brian Anderton, director at Trans-Bridge Freight Services, articulated the necessity of this technological advancement: “Since welcoming our first Carrier unit in 2015, we’ve been consistently impressed with its performance and reliability, so bringing the advanced technology of the Vector eCool into the fleet was the next logical step.” Anderton underscores the significance of meticulous temperature control, which is pivotal in safeguarding pharmaceutical products against even the slightest thermal variations.
The Vector eCool’s hybrid capacity to switch to diesel power in emergencies provides an invaluable level of assurance, particularly during challenging weather conditions that could prolong transit times. This dual-mode operation ensures the integrity of goods even when external circumstances are unfavourable.
Strategically stationed in Manchester, the trailer embarks on extensive journeys to fulfil deliveries for pharmaceutical clientele, covering up to 90,000 miles annually. The route includes passage through the Scottish port of Cairnryan to reach Antrim in Northern Ireland, making the Vector eCool’s efficiency an essential aspect of operations.
The integration of the Carrier Transicold Vector eCool unit represents a strategic leap in optimising Trans-Bridge Freight Services’ distribution network for pharmaceuticals.
