In a strategic move, student accommodation developer Fusion Group and investment partner Cheyne Capital have expanded their footprint in the burgeoning Brent Cross Town development by acquiring a second site. This acquisition marks a continued collaboration between Fusion and Cheyne, which has already proven successful in previous projects.
Brent Cross Town is situated in north London, encompassing 180 acres with an estimated value of £8 billion. This ambitious mixed-use development is set to include 6,700 new homes, workspaces, educational facilities, leisure spots, and extensive green areas. The site acquired by Fusion and Cheyne will support 650 student beds, reflecting a comprehensive approach to student accommodation.
The location offers excellent transport links, being in close proximity to Brent Cross West station on the Thameslink line and just 12 minutes from St Pancras International. Such connectivity is pivotal for students attending central London universities. Moreover, the development is poised to host a campus for Sheffield Hallam University, marking its first outside Yorkshire.
Fusion’s proposed scheme promises to cater to modern students’ needs with innovative features, including a digital competitive gaming zone, a zero-waste health kitchen, a yoga studio, and relaxation pods. Looking beyond traditional accommodation, the development aims to create an engaging and sustainable environment for students.
This new site acquisition, designed by Glenn Howells architects, follows Fusion and Cheyne’s first Brent Cross scheme acquired in mid-2022, which is expected to be completed by 2025. The cumulative asset value of their initiatives in Brent Cross Town is projected to reach approximately £500 million.
This expansion strengthens Fusion and Cheyne’s strategic position within Brent Cross Town’s transformative development.
