Continental has been appointed as the preferred supplier for Maritime Transport’s rail and freight operations, marking a substantial partnership. Maritime Transport, renowned for its integrated low-carbon logistics solutions, operates eight rail freight terminals, including the forthcoming Northampton Gateway. This expansive network manages a variety of services linked to the UK’s principal ports.
The partnership with Continental incorporates the expertise of its strategic service partner, T&C Site Services, highlighting their collaborative approach and commitment to quality. This triadic collaboration has been pivotal, as noted by Tom Glenn, Maritime Transport’s national plant manager, who values efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality.
The agreement accentuates the effectiveness of Continental’s radial and v-ply tyres, which markedly enhance performance compared to the previous supplier’s offerings. The tyres not only exhibit a lower service cost but also contribute to enhanced overall fleet performance. This has been particularly evident following customer evaluations, which have demonstrated significant performance improvements.
To further optimise their logistics operations, Maritime Transport has trialled the ContiPressureCheck tyre pressure monitoring system, yielding impressive outcomes. Following the implementation of Continental tyres, there was a remarkable reduction in tyre replacements, showcasing the system’s effectiveness in maintaining tyre integrity. This significant improvement led to a full-scale fleet installation of the system, underlining its value.
Trevor Adams, Managing Director of T&C Site Services, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, emphasising the high service standards and innovative maintenance solutions fostered by their relationship with Continental. Mike Leedham, Continental’s OTR sales manager, reiterated the benefits of their collaborative approach, underlining the educational aspect that drives the success of their multi-solution strategy.
