Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATSG) has announced that the US National Mediation Board has ruled in favor of its airline subsidiaries in determining that they do not operate as a single transportation system, as defined under the US Railway Labor Act, for purposes of the labor representation of their pilot employees, the company said.
ATSG owns and operates two airlines with separate and distinct US FAA Part 121 Air Carrier certificates, ABX Air, Inc. and Air Transport International, Inc.
Pilot employees of ABX Air are represented by IBT Local 1224. Pilot employees of Air Transport International are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, which opposed the Airline Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters´ filing with the NMB.
The determination was in response to an October 2016 application from the IBT, which sought a ruling that would have required the representation of all airline pilot employees of the companies by a single collective bargaining representative.
ATSG is a provider of aircraft leasing and air cargo transportation and related services to domestic and foreign air carriers and other companies that outsource their air cargo lift requirements.
