AE Expeditions extended an invitation to travel agents to board the Greg Mortimer, aiming to foster connections and showcase their unique approach to expedition cruising. The event, held at Portsmouth Harbour, preceded the ship’s debut Jewels of Coastal UK voyage, providing an opportune setting for agents and tour operators to explore the vessel. This pre-sailing gathering allowed the industry professionals an insight into the luxurious yet ecologically conscious itineraries offered by AE Expeditions.
During the visit, agents had the opportunity to converse with Jos Dewing, AE Expeditions’ Managing Director for EMEA. Dewing emphasised the shared values between AE Expeditions and its partners, particularly the passion for uncovering and preserving hidden natural wonders around the globe. He remarked on the perfect setting the ship visit provided to connect with the dedicated expedition crew, carefully selected for each voyage to enhance the passenger experience with their expertise.
Karen Hollands, a sales executive at AE Expeditions, presented the special guest programme, marking the attendance of Miranda Krestovnikoff, president of RSPB and a renowned conservationist, on the forthcoming voyage. Her participation aims to enrich the voyage by sharing profound insights into conservation efforts, further appealing to passengers passionate about environmental stewardship.
This event and strategic initiatives reflect AE Expeditions’ growing influence within the UK market. Dewing pointed to a remarkable 124 per cent increase in sales for polar voyages on their ships Greg Mortimer and Sylvia Earle, facilitated by collaborations with agents and operators specialising in small ship and expeditionary cruises. Additionally, the expansion of agent partnerships by 50 per cent highlights the successful engagement strategies employed by the company.
In April, AE Expeditions appointed Andrew Tait as their Senior Business Development Manager for the UK and Europe. Tait’s role focuses on strengthening industry relationships, forging new partnerships, and uncovering potential channels for growth. This strategic appointment demonstrates AE Expeditions’ commitment to fortifying its market presence and enhancing outreach efforts within the region.
