This year’s theme centres on the journey of a partridge named Foggy, who is on a mission to meet Santa Claus and aid in the flourishing of his magical pear tree. The narrative promises to entertain and delight viewers of all ages, merging traditional elements with a fresh artistic vision.
Paul Baptiste, the Head of Creative at Fenwick, remarked, “This festive season, we’re bringing a touch of the unexpected. Our take on the classic Christmas carol honours timeless traditions of a familiar Christmas, while offering a fresh Fenwick perspective, with a dash of surprise.” His comments mirror the innovative approach that Fenwick has adopted, seamlessly blending the historical with the contemporary to provide a renewed festive experience.
Further enhancing the display is a specially crafted soundtrack by the Tyneside band ‘The Unthanks’, produced in collaboration with The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. This musical accompaniment offers an auditory feast to match the visual spectacle, enriching the overall experience for those who visit to admire the windows.
Iconic British illustrator Chris Riddell, known for his whimsical and evocative artwork, has contributed his expertise to the design of the windows. Collaborating with Propability, a family-owned British design and production house renowned for their expertise, the team has succeeded in breathing life into this seasonal narrative, creating a display that is both enchanting and meticulously crafted.
