Ottolenghi is expanding its exclusive partnership with Waitrose by introducing three new cooking sauces. This follows initial reports where sales of the Ottolenghi range have exceeded expectations. Waitrose world food buyer, Lucy White, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the range, noting the enthusiastic customer response.
The newly introduced sauces—Sticky Date & Tamarind, Pilpelchuma, and Roasted Aubergine & Tomato—will be available in Waitrose stores this month. The sauces are priced competitively, with the first two costing £4 for 180g and the latter £4.50 for 350g. This strategic addition aims to build on the existing success of Ottolenghi’s products in the retail market.
April marked Ottolenghi’s first venture into a retail setting, having traditionally operated through its London delis and restaurants. The initial launch featured a variety of sauces and spice mixes, including Miso Pesto, Kalamata Olive and Harissa Sauce, and Shawarma Marinade. These products, crafted by Yotam Ottolenghi and his test kitchen team, were designed to reach a broader audience.
Waitrose has expressed optimism in receiving customer feedback on these new offerings, which are expected to replicate the success of the previous launch. Lucy White has stated the brand’s previous lineup has outstripped expectations, and there is anticipation for similar results with the new sauces.
Ottolenghi’s strategic partnership with Waitrose continues to thrive with new product launches meeting and exceeding market expectations.
