McLaren Construction Midlands & North has commenced work on the ambitious Omega West Unit 4 at Warrington’s Omega Business Park. This impressive £28m project is a pivotal development in the logistics and industrial sector, marking another step forward following the completion of Units 2 and 3. The current development is being constructed on behalf of Omega St Helens Limited, with Blackstone managing the fund as the purchaser.
Omega West Unit 4 spans an extensive 420,000 sq ft, featuring two-storey offices, a substantial warehouse space, a main hub office, and ample car parking facilities. This site is designed to be robust, accommodating both current and future operational needs of the business park.
The construction process has necessitated addressing environmental and logistical challenges present at the site. Significant efforts have been made to mitigate risks associated with a watercourse along the southern and western boundaries, implementing an eight-metre buffer zone to safeguard construction operations. Additionally, a complex diversion of a 132kva cable across the northern boundary required meticulous planning to ensure that groundwork activities proceed without incident.
Incorporating innovative construction techniques, McLaren’s strategy includes the use of alternative fuels to power generators and machinery, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the construction process. Furthermore, the site employs the ‘Smartwaste’ online data system to meticulously manage waste, with recycling targets that are monitored on a monthly basis, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability.
The construction of Omega West Unit 4 signifies McLaren’s dedication to innovative and sustainable building practices.
