MKM Building Supplies has officially opened its 130th branch in Rotherham, marking a significant milestone for the company since its establishment in Hull in 1995. The grand opening took place on 2nd September and is part of the company’s strategic expansion under the stewardship of Bain Capital Private Equity, which acquired MKM in March 2017 when it operated just 47 branches.
The Rotherham branch, located at a spacious 86,000 square foot site, is managed by local branch directors Ryan Brooks and Jack Griffiths, both bringing substantial experience and local knowledge to their roles. Their leadership is pivotal as MKM Rotherham seeks to integrate into the community and become the preferred merchant for builders and contractors in the area.
Emphasising customer-centric services, MKM Rotherham stocks products from renowned brands such as Kingspan, Velux, Marshalls, Siniat Plasterboards, Global Stone, and Carlton Brick. Additionally, the branch aligns with local producers like Rotherham Sand & Gravel and Principal Building Products, ensuring a diverse and comprehensive inventory.
MKM’s offerings extend beyond mere product availability. The branch provides specialised services such as a sheet cutting service and plumbing and heating expertise. Customers can also benefit from a beautifully designed showroom that inspires innovative building projects, along with well-stocked shelves and a team reputed for local knowledge.
The directors have expressed their commitment to enhancing the convenience for local tradespeople. As Jack Griffiths states, ‘We’re going to make life easier for local tradespeople with free delivery, tailored pricing, and the option for same-day delivery where available.’ This strategic approach aims to position MKM Rotherham as the go-to merchant known for consistent pricing and reliable service in the region.
The opening of MKM in Rotherham signifies a strengthened presence in the region with a focus on community-centric services.
