M&E contractor Campbell West has successfully obtained a pivotal contract valued at £6 million for mechanical and electrical services at Surrey’s Ashford Hospital. This ambitious project forms part of a major transformation initiative aimed at enhancing the hospital’s capacity and service efficiency.
The scope of work under this contract includes constructing four state-of-the-art operating theatres for the Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, aiding in the development of a new ophthalmology department, and refurbishing two wards. The project aims to significantly bolster the hospital’s capabilities and service delivery for the local population of over 450,000 residents.
Key infrastructure upgrades will include the installation of an advanced air handling plant, air source heat pumps, uninterruptible power supply, and isolated power supply systems. Additionally, extensive upgrades to the ventilation, fire safety mechanisms, and building management systems are planned alongside significant electrical rewiring and medical gas infrastructure updates.
Campbell West, founded in Bracknell in 2017, brings a strong portfolio of expertise to the project, with a history of successful collaborations within the healthcare sector. Co-owner Steven Campbell has expressed pride in the company’s established reputation within the NHS framework, stating, “We’re all looking forward to bringing this project to life in close collaboration with our clients and our NHS partners.”
The project is being executed in phases, with the initial £1 million phase already completed and the subsequent £2.4 million phase underway. This is set to culminate with the final £2.5 million phase. These efforts underscore Campbell West’s strategic expansion into other sectors, including education and local government.
Daniel West, fellow co-owner, highlighted the contract as a testament to Campbell West’s growing stature and reliability, commenting that it represents a significant milestone in the company’s development. The firm’s readiness to implement advanced technical solutions is expected to enhance its standing within the broader construction and healthcare industries.
This development marks a pivotal point for both Campbell West and the Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
