HSS Hire and Selco Builders Warehouse have strengthened their collaboration, placing HSS operations in 15 Selco branches.
- HSS Hire initially set up satellite operations in four Selco locations and has now grown to eleven more sites.
- The partnership, praised by both companies for boosting customer convenience, allows simultaneous material purchase and equipment hire.
- HSS Hire’s in-store presence mirrors a previous initiative by Speedy Hire with B&Q, albeit with different outcomes.
- Selco has also initiated collaborations with other firms, enhancing their service offerings in multiple branches.
HSS Hire and Selco Builders Warehouse have expanded their strategic alliance, embedding HSS operations in 15 Selco branches across the UK. Initially, HSS established itself in four locations—Slough, Milton Keynes, Tottenham, and Ashton-under-Lyne—at the end of the previous year, and this expansion now includes branches such as West Thurrock, Charlton, Rochester, Camberley, Walthamstow, and others. Craig Bowler, Selco’s head of development, highlighted customer enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it enables customers to fulfil both material purchases and hire needs efficiently.
This collaboration is not only beneficial for customers; it mirrors a comparable venture previously undertaken by Speedy Hire in collaboration with B&Q. While Speedy’s initiative came to a close, the continuity of their service through B&Q tills demonstrates a varied approach to similar partnerships.
HSS Hire, confident in the natural synergy between a builder’s merchant and a tool and equipment hire specialist, has stationed its teams within Selco branches to provide expert advice directly at trade counters. Nick Hadley, a director at HSS Hire, expressed satisfaction with the successful dynamics of the Selco partnership, affirming the mutual benefits reaped by both companies.
Further, Selco has not limited itself to the partnership with HSS Hire. They also launched the Brick Store in collaboration with Chiltern Brick & Tile earlier this year, enhancing their offerings with a display of over 200 brick types across several branches. Utilizing technology with QR codes, they facilitate seamless customer assistance.
These strategic initiatives reflect Selco’s forward-thinking approach in enhancing customer experience by integrating complementary services, whether through tool hire or specialised building materials.
The partnership between HSS Hire and Selco exemplifies a mutually beneficial strategy, advancing customer convenience in the construction sector.
