London property developer Avanton has appointed HG Construction as the main contractor for its ambitious residential scheme on the Old Kent Road. This development, known as The BeCa, is a landmark project valued at £160m and signifies the first major step in transforming the area. The site, previously home to a Carpetright warehouse, is set to become a vibrant residential community.
The BeCa development will consist of 262 residential units, distributed across two high-rise towers designed by the architects at Farrells. These towers will reach impressive heights of 10 and 19 storeys. As the initial phase of the Ruby Triangle masterplan, the project will offer 170 one- and two-bedroom apartments for private sale. Residents will benefit from amenities such as a concierge service, a fitness suite, flexible co-working spaces, and more. Additionally, the development will feature three communal roof terraces, enhancing the living experience.
Beyond the residential offerings, the development will incorporate over 10,000 square feet of retail space. A Sainsbury’s Local is already signed up, indicating a strong commercial interest in the area. This integration of retail and residential facilities is designed to enrich community life.
HG Construction’s chief executive, Adam Quinn, expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasising the positive impact on local housing and amenities. ‘We have been involved in a number of schemes in the Old Kent Road area over the past few years,’ Quinn stated. ‘It is wonderful to see the regeneration progress at pace with major new schemes completing and more on the way.’
With construction set to commence immediately, the completion of The BeCa is expected by winter 2026. This timeline underscores a swift and efficient approach to realise the project’s potential, marking a significant milestone in the regeneration of Old Kent Road.
The BeCa project marks an important advancement in the urban development of Old Kent Road, enhancing both residential and retail landscapes.
