The selected companies—Lanes Group, Cappagh Browne, and McAllister Bros—are to implement critical improvements over the course of the 2025-30 asset management period, designated as AMP8. This decision marks a significant step as Southern Water seeks to fulfil both its customer service commitments and its environmental sustainability goals.
The contracts are divided into four operational lots. Lanes Group has been tasked with the maintenance and management of manholes, whereas Cappagh Browne will be taking the lead on sewer rehabilitation projects. McAllister Bros will focus on implementing sewer sealing techniques to enhance the network’s integrity. These tasks are not only crucial for operational improvements but also paramount in Southern Water’s broader strategy to enhance the performance of its wastewater infrastructure.
Commencing in April 2025, these projects will extend over a five-year period as part of the AMP8 spending programme. However, there is potential for these contracts to be extended beyond the initial term, contingent on performance and ongoing needs. This strategic initiative follows on the heels of Southern Water’s previous contract awards totalling £3.7 billion, forming part of their comprehensive scheme to upgrade their capital delivery supply chain.
