OPX Logistics, a prominent haulage company located in Swindon, has recently found itself in administration. Appointed on the 5th of June, administrators Andrew Beckingham and Sean Ward from Leonard Curtis are now tasked with the responsibility of handling the company’s financial affairs. This development adds OPX Logistics to the growing list of haulage firms undergoing financial distress.
The company experienced a notable reduction in turnover from £15.5 million to £6.5 million over just five months, coupled with a pre-tax loss decline to £55,624 from the previous year’s £1.1 million. These figures underline the significant financial difficulties that have beset the company, exacerbated by a challenging post-pandemic environment.
Despite the difficult trading conditions observed during 2022, OPX Logistics initially held an optimistic outlook. The company saw record turnover and expanded its client base in 2023. However, the foundational financial structure, heavily burdened with high gearing and substantial finance repayments, ultimately proved unsustainable.
The administrators, in their official statement, confirmed that they are currently evaluating the financial stance of OPX and its subsidiaries, OPX Recruitment Limited and OPX Distribution Limited. They are tasked with proposing subsequent steps to the creditors, although the continuation of the group’s haulage services remains untenable.
Efforts to gain commentary from OPX Group or OPX Logistics have so far been unsuccessful. Nevertheless, the administrators have indicated potential opportunities for sustaining the group’s storage assets, whilst haulage operations remain suspended.
The future of OPX Logistics hinges on forthcoming evaluations by the administrators amidst unyielding financial pressures.
