Haribo has partnered with Gopuff to introduce the UK’s first sweets emergency service in anticipation of Halloween. This collaboration aims to deliver sweets rapidly to consumers, capitalising on the heightened demand during this festive occasion. The service is titled ‘TreatLine’ and is designed to send Haribo’s Monster Approved sweets directly to shoppers’ doors within minutes, enhancing convenience for customers across selected areas.
‘TreatLine’ will feature a selection of sweets favoured by children, including Haribo’s Sour Skeletons, Monster Z!ng, Pinballs Halloween, and Starmix and Trick or Treat multipacks. This curated list ensures that consumers have access to a mix of popular treats that are likely to be in high demand throughout Halloween festivities.
In an effort to foster the Halloween spirit, Haribo has targeted the cities of Bristol, Birmingham, and London, identified as having the least Halloween enthusiasm. On 31 October, residents in these cities can benefit from a special promotion offering 2,250 Starmix multipacks free of charge, contingent on activating the emergency button on Gopuff.
The importance of Halloween as an event for the confectionery sector is underscored by consumer spending figures, which have reportedly quadrupled in recent years. According to Asda’s 2024 Halloween trends report, spending in the UK during Halloween has surpassed £1 billion. This statistic highlights the increased market relevance for companies like Haribo, who are keen to capture a larger share of this lucrative segment.
Phil Murphy, Haribo’s UK and Ireland marketing VP, highlighted the objective of this initiative as a means to ‘save Halloween’ by easing the pressure on adults to provide exciting treats for children. Moreover, Leon Tang, Gopuff’s growth director, emphasised their commitment to delivering key moments for customers by ensuring they are well-stocked with the most sought-after candies.
The collaboration between Haribo and Gopuff presents a strategic response to heightened Halloween consumer demand, making treats readily available to households across the UK.
