Ferryspeed’s adoption of Webfleet has resulted in significant cost savings and efficiencies.
- The company’s decision to implement Webfleet three years ago aimed to optimise fleet management.
- Webfleet’s integration has enabled Ferryspeed to make data-driven procurement decisions.
- A 20% improvement in trailer utilisation was achieved through enhanced tracking capabilities.
- Additional benefits included fuel savings and reductions in idling incidents.
Ferryspeed, a prominent freight shipping specialist, has reported substantial financial benefits following the integration of the fleet management software, Webfleet. The initiative, launched three years prior, was intended to improve oversight and management of more than 600 vehicles and trailers within the company’s expansive fleet. With this technology, Ferryspeed has claimed savings exceeding £250,000 in trailer procurement costs alone.
A key factor in the company’s strategic procurement has been the utilisation of Webfleet’s advanced capabilities in tracking and optimising trailer usage. This real-time asset visibility has been praised by Ferryspeed group executive director, Nick Green, as having streamlined operations significantly. Green emphasised that operations have become simpler and more efficient, allowing the company to procure trailers precisely tailored to its operational requirements. This has resulted in substantial savings, while also allowing the design of multi-purpose trailers which meet specific trip demands, thereby reducing the overall number of trailers required.
In addition to procurement efficiency, Ferryspeed has also experienced a 20% improvement in trailer utilisation. This enhancement was made possible by Webfleet’s robust tracking abilities, which facilitate more effective fleet management. Furthermore, the company has noted improvements in fuel savings and a decrease in incidents related to idling, all attributed to the monitoring of driver behaviour through the system.
Last year’s strategic move saw Ferryspeed expand its operational capabilities by joining the Palletforce network, which covers certain PO postcodes around Portsmouth. This expansion aligns with the company’s commitment to enhance service efficiency and reach. The twice-daily shipping service to the Channel Islands remains a pivotal part of Ferryspeed’s operations, underscoring the importance of effective fleet management solutions like Webfleet.
Ferryspeed’s strategic integration of Webfleet has proven to be a successful endeavour, offering both cost savings and operational improvements.
