Having operated for 160 years, the firm has initiated changes in the packaging for its premium line of cheddar and butter products. The new design, crafted by the firm Big Fish, features an updated logo and proudly displays the establishment date of 1861, enhancing brand heritage. This move echoes a similar effort made in 2021 with the Ivy’s Reserve brand.
The announcement of the rebrand coincides with Wyke Farms receiving the Environmental Leadership Award at the Food and Drink Federation Awards. The company garnered praise for its sustainable practices, notably sourcing all its electricity and gas from biogas and solar energy generated from farm and dairy waste. Rich Clothier, managing director and third-generation family member at Wyke Farms, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation as pivotal to their operations.
Wyke Farms’ commitment to sustainability is further reflected in its financial results, showing a rise of 68.4% in operating profits, reaching £10.9 million by March 31, 2023. This financial upturn is largely attributed to their anaerobic digestion-based energy business, which has been a significant contributor. The initiative not only meets the company’s energy requirements but also allows the sale of excess green gas at record prices to the National Grid. Furthermore, the firm witnessed a 20% increase in turnover, amounting to £149.5 million, as documented by Companies House.
