Hampshire-based Coomers has strategically invested in integrating Webfleet telematics with Mantis camera solutions to significantly elevate driver safety within its fleet. For eight years, Coomers has utilised Bridgestone’s Webfleet for fleet management, and more recently, they have incorporated Mantis cameras into this system, targeting their fleet of 11 HGVs. This integration not only strengthens the company’s ability to monitor driving behaviours but also provides them with irrefutable video evidence in the event of accidents or driving discrepancies.
The introduction of front-facing Mantis cameras equips drivers with the capability to share live footage with office personnel through an in-cab alert system. Charlie Stuart, Coomers’ systems manager, highlights the efficiency brought by this technology, stating that the new system enhances their capacity to support their drivers. He notes, “With all the footage we need at our fingertips, the new solution means we can have our drivers’ back much more.” This initiative allows faster and more efficient resolution of insurance claims as insurers receive all necessary documentation upfront.
The integration utilises Webfleet’s OptiDrive 360, granting Coomers comprehensive oversight of their fleet operations. This tool enables the transport coordinator, Ciaran McCarthy, to effectively track and address unsafe or inefficient driving behaviours, including speeding and harsh braking. Moreover, OptiDrive 360 assures that drivers adhere to mandated rest periods and choose secure stopping locations. McCarthy underscores that this system not only maintains safety standards but also enhances delivery accuracy, facilitating real-time updates for customers and contingencies for traffic delays.
