In a significant development for the logistics sector, international transport operator cargo-partner has inaugurated its first warehouse facility in the United Kingdom. This milestone forms part of its broader strategic expansion plans, which are centred around enhancing operational infrastructure and services. Located in Basildon, the expansive 4,460 m² warehouse is strategically positioned next to an existing office, thus optimising logistical coordination and management.
The Basildon warehouse is not merely an expansion of physical space but also a hub of operational enhancement. It is equipped with dedicated spaces for pallet racking, order picking, packing, and general storage, designed to facilitate streamlined operations. This logistical centre will be managed by a team of professionals, whose expertise is augmented by their integration into the cargo-partner workforce through a seamless transfer of undertakings process.
Fergal Keenan, managing director for cargo-partner in Ireland and the UK, articulated the strategic rationale behind this development: “We’re delighted to be continuing to deliver on our growth strategy, providing another great location for us to support our customers and partners. This strategic investment marks a significant milestone in our journey to provide end-to-end logistics solutions to our customers.”
This facility becomes part of cargo-partner’s network following the operator’s rapid growth in the UK, evident in the recent opening of a fourth UK office near London Heathrow Airport. Additionally, cargo-partner has established a robust presence across Central and Eastern Europe, recently investing in Western European markets to affirm its presence in vital regions.
Globally, cargo-partner operates an extensive network comprising 4,000 employees and 160 offices across more than 40 countries, supported by over 300,000 m² of warehousing space distributed throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, and the USA. The strategic addition of the Basildon warehouse aligns with previous significant investments such as the iLogistics Center in Sottrum, Germany, and the facility in Roermond, Netherlands.
