Hollowoaks Limited, the proprietors of Dovestone Holiday Park, have announced plans for an expansion that promises to significantly enhance the guest experience at this popular luxury glamping destination. At the heart of this development is the transformation of a traditional two-storey farmhouse, nestled adjacent to the holiday park, into a versatile hub for dining, shopping, and leisure. The farmhouse, beautifully accented with a traditional slate roof, will serve as the new focal point for guests seeking a blend of rustic charm and contemporary comfort.
The approved plan by Oldham Council is seen as a positive step for local economic development. The ground floor will accommodate a restaurant, games room, kitchen, and other essential facilities, aiming to provide comprehensive services to holidaymakers. A two-bedroom apartment for the park’s managers will be set up on the second floor. This space, designed with an open plan kitchen-living-dining area, also includes bathroom facilities, an office, and dedicated parking.
The strategic location of the new facility offers breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty, including the mountains and woods near Dovestone Reservoir. Despite being in close proximity to Uppermill and Greenfield, this new attraction will primarily cater to the holiday park’s guests. The opening hours of 10 AM to 10 PM ensure guests have ample time to enjoy these facilities while basking in the serene landscape.
Hollowoaks Limited has highlighted that the decision to create a new dining venue was largely motivated by customer feedback, which emphasized the need for additional amenities at the site. Moreover, the company anticipates the creation of additional job opportunities as a direct outcome of this expansion, which aligns with their commitment to supporting the local economy.
The expansion proposal received approval without objections, underscoring its perceived benefits. Planning officer Matthew Taylor has articulated that the development not only supports economic activities but also contributes to the environmental and aesthetic appeal of the area. By bringing a vacant building into productive use, the project is aligned with sustainability initiatives, providing employment while maintaining the character of the region.
The expansion of Dovestone Holiday Park marks a strategic development, enhancing facilities for guests while fostering local economic and environmental benefits.
