Barrhead Travel reports another leap in sales as cruise holidays prove increasingly popular.
- The agency surpassed previous records on 13 January, with a 20% sales boost.
- Sunday 14 January marked Barrhead’s most successful Sunday, excelling across all channels.
- Family bookings for school holiday dates have notably increased.
- Destinations like Barbados and Southampton are amongst the most booked.
In a remarkable continuation of its upward trajectory, Barrhead Travel has once again shattered its sales records, reflecting the growing public interest in cruise holidays. On 13 January, the agency saw a sales increase exceeding 20% compared to the prior weekend, underscoring a significant surge in consumer demand and confidence in cruise offerings for the year 2024.
The rampant uptick in sales extended into Sunday, 14 January, marking it as Barrhead’s best Sunday ever. This upswing was not confined to a single avenue; noteworthy performance was recorded across retail outlets, call centres, online platforms, and social media engagements, highlighting the multi-channel appeal of cruise packages.
Among the areas contributing to this growth, family bookings have emerged as a pivotal segment, particularly as customers seek to secure key school holiday dates ahead of time. This trend suggests a shift in consumer planning behaviour, with families prioritising travel arrangements to ensure optimal vacation experiences.
The agency disclosed that while summer 2024 remains the prime season of interest, approximately 20% of new bookings from last week were for travels scheduled before the end of March. Such data indicates that travellers are not only planning far ahead but are also keen on immediate escapes.
Departures from popular destinations such as Barbados and cruises from Southampton are leading the booking charts. These locations have consistently appeared in Barrhead’s top-five bookings, reaffirming their status as preferred choices for holidaymakers.
Reflecting on these trends, Jacqueline Dobson, president of Barrhead Travel, remarked on the ‘sheer resilience’ of the market, noting, ‘We thought 2023 was the year of the holiday – but booking patterns are suggesting that there may be more frequent trips and longer holidays booked for the coming 12 months.’ Her statement underscores an evolving holiday landscape where consumer determination to secure ‘non-negotiable’ holidays is driving unprecedented sales.
The robust performance of Barrhead Travel signifies a renewed zeal among travellers for cruise holidays, positioning 2024 as a potentially record-breaking year.
