Blick Rothenberg, a firm renowned for its audit, tax, and business advisory services, recently spearheaded a significant fundraising initiative, accumulating over £10,000 for cancer charities. This effort saw the participation of six of its dedicated employees in a demanding 50-mile walk across the picturesque Jersey coastline. The initiative was not only a charitable endeavour but also a tribute to two former colleagues, Linda Bute and Mike Scoltock, who succumbed to cancer and had participated in the inaugural Jersey Walk conducted by the firm fifteen years prior.
The participants—Andy Sanford, Heather Powell, Paul Haywood-Schiefer, Katharine Campbell, Darsh Shah, and Dharma-Dev Morzaria—embarked on this challenging trek to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Connection at St Martin’s. Heather Powell, Head of Property, described the journey which began on a seemingly auspicious Friday the 13th. Despite potential superstitions associated with the date, the group enjoyed favourable weather conditions with stunning coastal vistas resembling the Mediterranean.
Powell elaborated on the physical demands of the walk, noting that while the team experienced aches and pains, they drew motivation from the support and generosity of their colleagues and friends, whose donations bolstered their spirits. The subsequent days saw the group buoyed by camaraderie and determination as they traversed the arduous cliffs and bays, finally reaching the scenic beaches that marked the conclusion of their route.
Upon reaching their final destination at Gorey Castle, a profound sense of accomplishment resonated among the participants. Powell expressed immense gratitude for the overwhelming generosity that facilitated their successful fundraising, noting that over 300 individual donations contributed to the cause. In addition to the funds raised, Blick Rothenberg committed to an additional donation, reinforcing their status as a patron of The Connection, the firm’s designated charity of the year.
The dedication and collective efforts of the Blick Rothenberg team underscore their profound commitment to supporting cancer charities.
