Cunard recently announced a historic surge in bookings, coinciding with the launch of its latest vessel, the Queen Anne. This new ship, with a capacity to host 3,000 guests, embarked on her maiden voyage on 3 May. Upon returning to her homeport in Southampton on 24 May, she commenced the British Isles Festival voyage.
The British Isles Festival voyage of the Queen Anne garnered significant attention, particularly during its naming ceremony which took place in Liverpool. Culture Liverpool estimates that over 50,000 individuals were present for the event, with numerous onlookers lining the River Mersey to welcome the Queen Anne to the city.
Cunard experienced an unparalleled increase in bookings in May, surpassing any comparable period historically recorded by the cruise line. The European itineraries offered by the Queen Anne emerged as a favourite among travellers, underscoring the vessel’s appeal.
Katie McAlister, Cunard’s president, expressed her enthusiasm regarding the booking success, attributing it to the determination of the Cunard team. She remarked, “We’re delighted to see such strong booking momentum in response to the successful launch of Queen Anne.”
Amidst these developments, Cunard appointed David Jones as its new vice president of global marketing and UK/EMEA sales on 10 June. Jones, an experienced executive within Cunard since 2017, has been recognised for his extensive global marketing experience.
