Solmar Villas, established by John and Maria Tayler nearly three decades ago, has become a distinguished name with over 1,600 private villas, including 1,000 exclusive properties, in sought-after destinations like Spain, Portugal, and Greece. This extensive collection will remain distinct yet synergistic with Der Touristik’s existing upscale villa offerings.
The transition promises continuity, as Julie Blake, daughter of the founders and current owner, will continue as managing director. Reporting to Francis Torrilla, CEO of Der Touristik UK, she will oversee Solmar’s operations from its Burton-upon-Trent base, ensuring the business ethos remains intact while welcoming new growth prospects.
Der Touristik is committed to maintaining Solmar’s unique market presence, leveraging its robust relationships with villa owners and travel agents. The company seeks to expand Solmar’s reach, integrating seamlessly with Kuoni’s retail operations and enhancing distribution through independent agencies nationwide.
Francis Torrilla highlighted Solmar’s remarkable growth trajectory, emphasising the broadening of price points and customer reach, while retaining a steadfast focus on quality and value. This acquisition is seen as an opportunity to drive Solmar into the forefront of the villa market, supported by thoughtful investment and development strategies.
