Confidence among young small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners is markedly high as they anticipate business prospects in 2025. A recent comprehensive survey disclosed that an overwhelming 94 percent of Gen Z business proprietors affirm their confidence, with a third of these individuals expressing a profound sense of assurance in their enterprises’ future.
The survey, commissioned by a business utilities retailer, illustrates this optimism among Gen Z, compared to their millennial counterparts, of whom 83 percent express confidence in their business ventures. The differing levels of optimism between these two generations are notable and emphasize a positive outlook amongst younger business leaders.
Conversely, confidence levels among older business owners display a downward trend. A mere 56 percent of those aged between 45 and 54 express confidence in their business futures, a sentiment mirrored by only 53 percent of those over 55. This generational divide underscores contrasting perceptions towards future business landscapes and challenges lingering ahead of the forthcoming economic policies.
Interestingly, despite persistent economic challenges like Brexit, the pandemic, and inflationary pressures, approximately 88 percent of UK SMEs advocate for starting a small business in 2025. This endorsement reflects an enduring resolve among SMEs to navigate an ever-evolving economic environment.
