Ward Hadaway has recently made a series of significant promotions within its ranks, notably within its Leeds office. These promotions include an appointment at the partner level, alongside a director role, which together constitute half of the firm’s promotions this year. This move is in line with its ambitious expansion plan, spearheaded by the new managing partner, Steven Petrie, aiming for a turnover milestone of £75 million by the year 2029.
Executive partner of the Leeds office, Emma Digby, highlighted the strategic nature of these promotions. She remarked that these changes are pivotal for the firm’s growth strategy, demonstrating a clear commitment to investing in personnel to enhance the quality of legal services offered. She noted, “Our team is pivotal in all that we do and want to achieve and make this firm a truly fantastic place to be.”
The promotions are further evidence of Ward Hadaway’s dedication to developing internal talent and providing superior legal services. Phil Edmondson, newly appointed as a partner in the commercial litigation team, exemplifies this. Since joining the firm as a managing associate in late 2022, Edmondson has rapidly advanced to become a partner, bringing sector-leading expertise in the sports legal arena, particularly concerning regulatory and commercial matters.
Another key promotion is that of Rachel Blythe to director within the employment department. With over 13 years of practising exclusively in employment law, Blythe’s promotion stands testament to her invaluable expertise and service. Further strengthening the firm’s leadership, Sarah Stockdale, Sally Popplewell, Olivia Field, and Josh Fielding have all ascended to the roles of managing associates across various departments, including real estate and corporate.
Further appointments to associate roles have been awarded to Sophie Smith, Ella Dodgson, and Richard Noble, reflecting the ongoing commitment to nurturing talent. These promotions across different levels of the firm highlight a strategic approach that aims to meet the increasingly complex needs of clients through enhanced expertise and dedication.
