Walker Foster Solicitors commemorated their 105th year in a unique manner by undertaking a 13-mile charity walk. This activity saw the firm’s staff, accompanied by family and friends, trading their typical work attire for walking boots on 8 June. The primary goal of this event was to gather funds for The Principle Trust, a charity dedicated to offering free respite holidays to children facing various adversities such as disability, poverty, or trauma.
The walk, which successfully raised £700, further cemented Walker Foster’s commitment to their partnership with the Skipton-based charity. The participants traversed the distance from the firm’s Skipton office to their Silsden branch, culminating in an impressive tally of approximately 37,000 steps.
Established in 1919, Walker Foster has evolved into a legal firm that boasts a team exceeding 70 professionals, spread across several offices in Yorkshire. Their areas of expertise range from family to employment law, showcasing their extensive service offerings. Kelly Chambers, representing the firm, expressed gratitude to all supporters of the event. Highlighting the firm’s dedication, she remarked on their earlier volunteering efforts in March, where staff assisted in preparing the charity’s holiday accommodations.
Mike Davies MBE, the founder of The Principle Trust, articulated his appreciation for the efforts of Walker Foster. He emphasized the impact of such corporate support, stating that it enables the trust to extend relief and joyous experiences to many disadvantaged children in the region. Since 2011, the trust has successfully raised over £1.7 million, offering over 5000 children much-needed breaks from challenging conditions. The aim for 2024 is to provide upwards of 200 families with week-long respite holidays, ensuring that all raised funds directly benefit the children and their families.
This collaboration between Walker Foster and The Principle Trust underscores the profound impact of community-focused initiatives on the lives of disadvantaged children.
