Waitrose has once again joined forces with British fashion brand Lulu Guinness to present a unique Christmas collection for 2024. This marks the third collaboration between the two, following previous successful ventures. The new collection is available both online and in Waitrose and John Lewis stores.
The central piece of this collection is a tote bag, priced at £15, notable for its eco-friendly creation from recycled plastic bottles. This bag features Lulu’s iconic lips and is designed with two different strap lengths to provide versatility to users.
In addition to the tote, consumers can anticipate the release of a reusable coffee cup and drinks bottle, featuring the same signature design. These will become available towards the end of November, priced at £7 and £12, respectively. This reflects the continued emphasis on sustainable and stylish gifting options.
Reflecting on the success of earlier collaborations, the first tote bag from this partnership, launched in September 2023, was coined the season’s “most affordable it-bag.” It achieved remarkable sales, with 75% of its stock cleared on the first day, compelling Waitrose to impose a two-bag purchase limit due to high customer demand.
Tim Shaw, a non-foods buyer for Waitrose, expressed excitement about these new additions, highlighting their durable and sustainable design. He mentioned a detachable coin purse with Lulu’s red lip motif as a new feature, enhancing the tote’s appeal. Lulu Guinness herself expressed her delight in maintaining a unique design perspective while adhering to the brand’s identity. She described the design as involving Lulu’s iconic lips resembling snowflakes, aiming to bring joy to the shopping experience.
