For the first time, these wines are accessible for purchase as individual bottles, a shift from their previous availability solely in multi-bottle cases to Virgin Wines customers. Jay Wright, CEO of Virgin Wines, expressed confidence in the product range offered through Ocado. He remarked on the strong relationships Virgin Wines maintains with a wide network of independent winemakers globally, which facilitates the creation of a distinct and continuously evolving range tailored to meet diverse consumer preferences.
Wright commented, “Virgin Wines has long-standing relationships with a considerable network of independent winemakers across the world. Our team work closely with them to create a unique range that is constantly evolving to meet the varying needs of different consumers.” His assertion highlights the commitment to quality and innovation inherent in their product selection.
Vanessa Pearson, the beers, spirits, and wines trading manager at Ocado, highlighted the convenience and inspiration that this partnership brings to their customers, who appreciate the ability to integrate wine purchases seamlessly into their weekly shop. She noted, “We know Ocado customers love the convenience of being able to add wine to their weekly shop and are increasingly looking for inspiration when it comes to new styles, regions and producers to explore.”
Pearson further emphasised Ocado’s unique advantage in the market: the absence of traditional shelf space limitations. This flexibility allows them to swiftly adapt to emerging trends and consumer tastes, offering a new range of wines that are said to be exceptional and innovative. Pearson expressed enthusiasm for the customer feedback, stating, “We’re particularly excited to share this new selection – the wines are exceptional, and all bring something brand new to the range. We can’t wait to hear what customers think.”
The partnership between Virgin Wines and Ocado exemplifies a strategic effort to enhance consumer access to exclusive wine selections, demonstrating both innovation and adaptability.
