- Travel agents can also benefit from a special training programme and commission structure.
- Virgin Voyages introduced ‘Resilient Lady’ as its newest ship with fresh entertainment options.
Virgin Voyages has launched a programme to express gratitude towards travel agents by offering them the opportunity to win a sea terrace cabin for two on any Caribbean voyage scheduled until December 2023. This initiative is part of the operator’s ‘First Mate Appreciation Month’, which runs until 31 July. Along with this, agents can also earn 130,000 Virgin Red points, offering considerable rewards such as two round-trip premium economy tickets on Virgin Atlantic and a $600 bar tab.
In a statement by Shane Riley, vice-president of international sales, he emphasised the importance of travel agents, stating: “First Mate Appreciation Month is our way of thanking our agent partners. We appreciate them every month but even more so in July.” This statement underscores the critical role travel agents play in Virgin Voyages’ success and the company’s commitment to rewarding them with enticing incentives.
Beyond the promotional prizes, Virgin Voyages also affords a 16 per cent commission on voyage fares with no Non-Commissionable Fees (NCFs), and an additional 10 per cent commission on airfare, hotels, and voyage protection. Additionally, the Seacademy virtual training programme allows agents to become a five-star First Mate in five hours, providing them with agent rates and further opportunities to engage with the brand.
Travel agents who have not experienced Virgin Voyages can take advantage of ‘First Mate Appreciation Voyages’. These special voyages offer them access keys to redeem on select summer trips aboard either the Valiant Lady or the Resilient Lady, furthering their familiarity with the cruise line’s offerings.
The introduction of Virgin Voyages’ third ship, the ‘Resilient Lady’, marks a significant milestone. Virgin Voyages CEO Tom McAlpin expressed excitement about the ship, noting its numerous entertainment options, including five new shows and exclusive onboard parties. He also highlighted the company’s renowned high rebooking rate, with 40 per cent of sailors rebooking their next cruise while still onboard.
Virgin Voyages continues to strengthen ties with travel agents through innovative initiatives and incentives that underscore their vital role in the company’s ongoing success.
