The Vertical Travel Group is set to consolidate its homeworking brands into a single legal entity to enhance clarity for suppliers.
- The strategic plan involves merging various divisions into a unified brand, retaining personal or corporate branding for agents.
- Legal restructuring will lead to the phasing out of Your Holiday Booking and Holiday Elite, while maintaining the presence of other brands online.
- Peter Healey, CEO, highlighted the benefits of this merger during a conference in Torremolinos, Spain, attended by agents and key partners.
- The consolidation will occur before April 2025, setting a new strategic direction for improved relations with suppliers.
The integration of the Vertical Travel Group’s homeworking brands into a single legal entity signifies a deliberate attempt to simplify business interactions and enhance transparency with suppliers. By merging divisions, the firm aims to illustrate its total business scale more clearly, catering to the needs of suppliers who require consolidated data on operation volumes. The overarching goal of this strategic move is to create a unified business identity, maintaining agents’ autonomy in their personal or corporate branding.
According to Peter Healey, the group chief executive, the elimination of the brands Your Holiday Booking and Holiday Elite is on the horizon, though others like Luxury Worldwide, Instant Holidays, and Instant Breaks will continue their online presence. Healey elaborated on the initiative stating, “We are merging the legal entities so that the suppliers can see who we are and can add up the sales from each division.” The change implies a shift towards a holistic Vertical Travel Group identity, aiming to streamline supplier relationships and consequently enhance operational efficiency.
Despite the consolidation efforts, individual agents benefit from retaining their personal trade identities, a move that Healey asserts would largely impact supplier interactions rather than the day-to-day operations of homeworkers. By reducing the complexity associated with dealing with multiple ABTA numbers, the reorganisation is designed to present a cohesive business front that suppliers can engage with more straightforwardly.
During a gathering in Torremolinos, Spain, where the announcement was made, approximately 100 delegates including agents, head office staff, and notable suppliers such as Jet2holidays and Gold Medal, convened to discuss the future trajectory of the group. Chief among the discussions was the reported 17% increase in sales this year in comparison to the previous year, despite a weaker performance in August, which was redeemed by a robust September.
Healey anticipates an increase in the number of homeworkers from the current count of 220 to approximately 250 by next April, attributing part of this growth to established homeworkers regaining momentum. He also touched upon challenges faced concerning low deposit schemes propelling cancellation rates, acknowledging an 8% cancellation rate as a point of concern.
The legal restructuring is projected to conclude before the fiscal year ends in April 2025, while the brand transition is expected to be a gradual process. Looking forward, the next annual conference is scheduled to take place at the Anemos Luxury Grand Resort, Crete, signifying a continued commitment to organisational growth and supplier partnerships.
This strategic merger marks a critical step towards a more unified and transparent business operation for the Vertical Travel Group.
