‘Back in Time for Bed’, an effort to aid working parents within the travel industry, will host its second gathering at Newcastle International Airport on 22 September. This programme seeks to focus on balancing professional obligations with family responsibilities. Created by travel industry influencers Vicky Billing and Anna Perrott, it offers a supportive network for parents.
The initiative, which was launched in February 2023, is spearheaded by Billing, head of partnerships at Riviera Travel, and Perrott, head of supplier relations at a leading cruise company. The objective is to facilitate a space for parents to exchange challenges, experiences, and advice, showcasing ‘quick wins’ and strategies beneficial to managing work-family balance.
The event follows a family-centric conference aboard a major cruise line’s vessel on 3 September, marking an interactive and engaging approach for participants. With the first regional event being held, organisers emphasize support for colleagues nationwide, understanding the difficulties of living far from central hubs like London.”
The organisers express enthusiasm in hosting such events outside London to ensure inclusivity, quoted as saying, “We really want to support all our fellow industry colleagues across the country…” with added support from Newcastle Airport’s executive, who acknowledges the personal challenges of balancing work with familial duties.
Expected to gather approximately 60 participants, the event is not just a networking opportunity but also a chance to amplify the dialogue around the obstacles and potentials for industry-based parents.
The upcoming event promises to strengthen community support among working parents in the travel industry.
