TRS Training, in collaboration with the British International Freight Association (BIFA), has unveiled a Skills Bootcamp designed to enhance skills within the freight forwarding industry. Supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority, the programme offers subsidised training to individuals situated within the authority’s region. This initiative aims to support both those already in the field and newcomers eager to join.
The 60-hour online course spans five weeks and is meticulously structured to offer flexibility, thus reducing conflicts with professional obligations. Participants will engage in technical workshops focusing on Freight Forwarding Essentials, Customs Essentials, Dangerous and Hazardous Goods, coupled with training in Customer Service Standards, Complaint Handling, and Business Relationship Techniques.
This programme is particularly accommodating to smaller firms, with an enrolment fee of £200 plus VAT, while larger enterprises with more than 250 employees face a charge of £600 plus VAT. Kevin Birch, Managing Director of TRS, emphasised the value of funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority, which lowers the financial barriers for participating businesses.
BIFA member services director, Carl Hobbis, noted that the Skills Bootcamp complements existing efforts directed towards encouraging skill development and recruitment within its member network. The Bootcamp is heralded as a beneficial addition to BIFA’s training initiatives.
Interested parties are encouraged to reach out to TRS for more information, ensuring they can take full advantage of the opportunities that the Skills Bootcamp presents.
The collaboration between TRS Training and BIFA marks a significant stride towards advancing skills and promoting growth in the freight forwarding sector.
