Birmingham’s city centre is witnessing an ambitious renovation project aiming to transform existing office buildings into a vibrant new hub called ‘Multistory’.

In the heart of Birmingham’s business district, an extensive refurbishment is underway to revitalise two prominent office buildings. This project, which targets 2 Colmore Square and Cannon House, intends to establish a new landmark destination named ‘Multistory’. Located on The Priory Queensway, the buildings will be rebranded, incorporating a significant expansion of high-grade office and shared spaces.
The project plans to introduce 75,000 sq ft of grade A office space, recognised for its contemporary design and superior functionality. Additionally, 15,000 sq ft of tenant amenities are being developed, featuring cutting-edge facilities designed to support modern business operations.
Significant improvements are planned for the entrance off Colmore Square, including a revamped reception area with direct access to quiet work zones. These zones aim to provide environments conducive to focused work, addressing the evolving needs of today’s workforce.
A second reception area, accessible from The Old Square, will be reimagined into a multifunctional space. It will accommodate casual seating and provide dynamic meeting rooms, reflecting a shift towards more collaborative and integrated working environments.
The development emphasises accessibility and sustainability with a transport hub located in the basement on Steelhouse Lane. This facility will feature charging stations for electric vehicles, security provisions for 286 bicycles, and changing rooms. A substantial provision of 70 car parking spaces will be made available, complementing the needs of the building occupants.
Retail and leisure spaces covering 27,000 sq ft will be stationed at ground and lower-ground levels. These areas, primarily facing The Priory Queensway, are expected to enhance the local economy and attract diverse tenants. Former businesses in these units comprised a TSB branch and sports retailers.
The office revamp, targeting completion in the first quarter of next year, embodies a strategic effort to invigorate Birmingham city centre with a sophisticated, multifaceted workspace. This initiative is poised to attract a myriad of businesses seeking modern facilities.
