In a recent study analysing various factors crucial for working parents managing both business and family life, several cities within the UK have emerged as ideal locations. The research evaluated 11 different factors, providing a comprehensive overview of environments where both business and family can thrive.
London, unsurprisingly, takes the premier position largely due to its extensive offerings for children. The city boasts 724 children’s activities, supported by 181 playgrounds, 168 entertainment centres, and 92 sports camps. Although rental and utility costs in London are elevated, the array of activities makes it a prime choice for families prioritising child engagement.
Belfast ranks second, characterised by its vast green spaces, comprising 44.52% of the city area in parks, gardens, and squares. Complementing these natural assets is Belfast’s safety index score of 53.69, reinforcing its status as a family-friendly city where businesses can flourish along with growing families.
Leeds, holding the third spot, stands out for its excellent educational infrastructure with 169 schools and 170 nurseries, catering extensively to the needs of young families. The city is also enriched by 41.90% green space, offering ample opportunities for outdoor activities that families can enjoy beyond traditional education settings.
Liverpool distinguishes itself by providing the cheapest monthly rental costs among the top 10 cities, with an average unit rental at £815.62. This economic advantage allows business owners more financial flexibility, enabling them to allocate resources towards both business expansion and family necessities.
Newcastle upon Tyne is noted for its commendable safety score of 61.97, ensuring a secure environment for both business activities and family life. Such a safety index is beneficial, affording peace of mind to business owners and further supporting their familial commitments.
These findings highlight cities in the UK that offer supportive environments for both business growth and family life.
