The introduction of the eActros 600 signifies a pivotal moment for the UK’s road transport sector as Mercedes-Benz Trucks unveils this comprehensive electric vehicle solution.
- The eActros 600 offers UK hauliers an extensive range of battery electric vehicles, enhancing the push towards sustainable transport.
- Operators are supported with a full ecosystem of EV-specific assistance, facilitating a smoother transition to emissions-free logistics.
- The Drinks Club reports impressive energy efficiency and performance from using the eActros 300 for urban deliveries.
- Mercedes-Benz’s range of electric trucks, including the eActros 300, 400, and 600, are tailored to meet various operational needs.
In a remarkable development, the eActros 600 has been launched in the UK, symbolising a critical move towards sustainable transport solutions. Mercedes-Benz Trucks now offers an expansive array of battery electric vehicles specifically designed for hauliers, marking a significant stride in the reduction of carbon emissions across the industry.
The benefits of this new range extend beyond just the vehicles themselves. A robust support system ensures that operators are not left to navigate the complexities of electric vehicle integration alone. A complete package of products and services, designed to maximise operational efficiency and uptime, is now available, as highlighted by James Venables, the Head of Future Sustainability. Venables stated, “We support operators on their journey to CO2-neutral transport, providing a full suite of products and services to help our customers run their truck to their very best; reliably and efficiently, maximising uptime and revenue and keeping the world moving.”
An example of the eActros’s capabilities can be seen through its deployment by The Drinks Club. The company utilises the eActros 300 model within London, with Managing Director Stuart Randall attesting to its superior driving experience. He noted, “The eActros is far more pleasant to drive than a diesel truck. It’s quiet and smooth but also has excellent and immediate power delivery, so is very easy to pilot among city-centre traffic. Energy efficiency is highly impressive too. The team reports that, on our typical 45-mile daily run, we’re only using around 10-15% of a full charge to complete the route.”
Mercedes-Benz has structured its electric truck offerings to cater to diverse operational requirements, offering the eActros 300, 400, and 600 models each with different battery capacities. These capacities provide varying ranges, tailored to meet specific haulage needs. The eActros 300 supports a 336 kWh capacity enabling distances up to 330 km, while the eActros 400, with four batteries, supports up to 400 km. The flagship eActros 600 model offers an impressive range of up to 500 km on a single charge with its 600 kWh capacity, making it suitable for long-haul routes.
The transition towards electric mobility is further supported by comprehensive training and services. All Mercedes-Benz dealers are fully trained and ‘eTruck-ready’, providing crucial support through their team of eConsultants. This includes guidance on the required infrastructure for charging and various digital services designed to increase utilisation and optimise total cost of ownership. Furthermore, financial solutions through Daimler Truck Financial Services encompass vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and charging infrastructure, ensuring a comprehensive approach to adopting electric vehicles.
The introduction of the eActros 600 marks a significant leap towards achieving a CO2-neutral transport industry in the UK.
