Thackray Williams, a law firm with roots in London and Kent, has undertaken a strategic expansion of its management and commercial teams. This move underscores its intention to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing legal landscape. Notably, the firm reported a remarkable 82% increase in revenues from its employment and commercial sectors over the past three years.
A key figure in this expansion is Simon Slater, who has assumed the role of non-executive Chair. Slater’s experience in shaping leading professional service businesses, such as Charles Russell Speechlys and Eversheds, is expected to be instrumental in guiding Thackray Williams through its current growth phase.
Among the new appointments, Megan O’Hara has been designated as an Employment Partner, and Julian Munroe steps in as an Employment Associate Solicitor. Charlene Cowen has taken on the role of Head of People and Wellbeing, while Amit Bhangham joins as a Commercial Property Senior Associate. Additionally, Lewis Glasson has been appointed as a Litigation Partner, marking the firm’s foray into the Sports industry sector, thereby broadening its commercial practice areas.
In 2021, the firm’s combined revenue for its employment, commercial litigation, and corporate departments was £1.15 million, a figure that surged to £2.1 million by 2023. The firm, headquartered in Bromley, is ambitiously positioning itself to be ranked amongst the top 200 law firms in the UK later this year.
Managing Partner Sean Sanders has articulated a vision of sustained growth, driven by a strategic focus on enhanced service levels and high-quality legal counsel. “Our ambition is clear – to emerge as one of the leading law firms in the South East,” Sanders remarked, highlighting the firm’s strategic investments in its workforce and the acquisition of top-tier legal talent.
Internally, Thackray Williams has also promoted four individuals to Partner positions. Mitchell Thompson and Nima Stepney have advanced to Partner roles within the Private Client department. Meanwhile, Marcus Beavis and David Gibson have taken on leadership roles within the Property team, both having commenced their careers as trainees at the firm. This internal mobility reflects the firm’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering professional development.
Thackray Williams’ strategic appointments and internal promotions are poised to propel it into the ranks of the UK’s leading law firms.
