International Brotherhood Of Teamsters has announced it has approved the formation of Teamsters Local 2118 at the request of the pilots at Allegiant Air, the company said.
More than 1,100 pilots will be members of the union, which will be headquartered in Las Vegas.
In addition to representing the flight crews, Teamsters also represent the company´s mechanics and dispatchers.
A low-cost regional carrier, Allegiant Air is one of the 10 largest passenger airlines in North America.
International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million men and women throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
