Emerald Cruises’ new luxury yacht, the Emerald Sakara, has completed its maiden sea trials with flying colours.
- The trials took place in Vietnam, marking a crucial milestone for the yacht before guest operations commence.
- Following the trials, Emerald Sakara embarked on its journey to the Mediterranean, ahead of its first voyage in August.
- The yacht’s design mirrors its sister ship, Emerald Azzurra, which joined the fleet in March 2022.
- The yacht is set to explore the Caribbean and Central America during the forthcoming winter season.
Emerald Sakara, the latest addition to the fleet, has successfully completed its sea trials, demonstrating operational excellence and readiness for guest experiences. The trials were conducted in Vietnam, beginning with the vessel’s departure from Halong Shipyard on 3 July. A wide array of systems was tested to ensure seamless functioning, culminating in the yacht’s certification for hosting guests.
Upon completion of the trials, the Emerald Sakara proceeded on a voyage from Vietnam to the Mediterranean on 6 July. This journey marks its transition from testing phases to operational readiness. The yacht’s first official trip, an eight-day Ionian Sea Adventure, is scheduled to depart from Athens to Rome on 5 August 2023.
The itinerary includes captivating destinations such as Itea in Greece, the famous Corinth Canal, and several notable Italian locations such as Cephalonia, Sicily, Amalfi, Sorrento, and Capri, concluding the adventure in Rome. This journey promises a blend of cultural enrichment and luxurious travel, characteristic of Emerald Cruises offerings.
Glen Moroney, Scenic Group’s founder and chairman, expressed satisfaction, stating: “We are extremely pleased with how well our newest 100-guest luxury yacht, Emerald Sakara, performed in her sea trials – she exceeded our expectations in every way.” The company looks forward to introducing the yacht to its guests, anticipating unique experiences in the Caribbean and Central America this winter.
Following its Mediterranean season, Emerald Sakara will be christened on 2 December in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by Kelly Craighead, the godmother and CEO of CLIA. The yacht will then begin its winter itinerary, exploring the vibrant scenes of the Caribbean and Central America, offering passengers a refined cruising experience reminiscent of its sister vessel, the Emerald Azzurra.
Emerald Sakara’s successful trials mark a promising start to its service, with upcoming voyages set to captivate and delight.
