SSO Logistics has consolidated its relationship with Venturepak, a fellow St Helens enterprise, by securing a three-year contract to service Venturepak’s new £3 million production facility in Manchester. This collaboration is an extension of their initial 12-month agreement and comes on the heels of Venturepak securing a significant contract to produce ice cream containers locally, rather than importing them, thus enhancing their operational autonomy.
The strategic move by Venturepak to establish a manufacturing facility in Manchester signifies its commitment to local production, reducing reliance on overseas imports. Such a decision not only supports local employment but also streamlines the supply chain. SSO Logistics becomes essential in this transformation, providing solutions to previously high damage rates in pallet shipments, which Venturepak faced with other logistic partners.
Martin Barber, Venturepak’s director, endorsed SSO’s performance, emphasising the reliability and quality of their logistics services, “We bring in a lot of pallets which can be quite easy to damage, and SSO are by far the best firm I’ve worked with in terms of getting the pallet to the customer in the condition it should reach them.” SSO handles almost the entirety of Venturepak’s transportation needs, underlining the importance of this partnership for Venturepak’s business.
In addition to reliable logistics, SSO Logistics provides British Retail Consortium accredited warehousing at its Haydock facility. This certification ensures that goods are stored under stringent quality standards, which is paramount for clients like Venturepak who rely heavily on intact and timely deliveries.
Transport is facilitated through the Pallet-Track network, where SSO collaborates with other independent haulage companies to transport goods nationwide effectively. This operational synergy ensures Venturepak’s products reach markets efficiently.
Peter Draper, director at SSO Logistics, highlighted the communication and mutual trust between the companies as foundational to their successful partnership. “The reason our partnership works so well is because Venturepak know they can call us day or night if they have any issues,” he noted. Draper further illustrated SSO’s commitment to customer service and strategic growth, reflecting on how the company is planning for future expansions and investments.
This strengthened alliance between SSO Logistics and Venturepak underscores a significant shift towards local production and operational efficiency.
