Initially scheduled to retire on 18th January 2025 after a decade of service, the Treasury has requested Armitt to extend his tenure. This extension ensures the completion of the 10-year infrastructure strategy and aids in the inauguration of the National Infrastructure & Service Transformation Authority (NISTA).
NISTA, a novel governmental entity, aims to unify the NIC’s advisory functions with the Infrastructure & Projects Authority’s (IPA) executive tasks. Armitt’s continued leadership is deemed essential to this transformative process.
During his extended tenure, Armitt will bring his vast experience from previous roles, including positions as chief executive at Union Railways, Costain, and Network Rail. This wealth of experience positions him as a crucial asset in navigating complex infrastructure projects.
