The Silver Moon’s float-out from Fincantieri’s Italian shipyard was a significant milestone, attended by esteemed guests and immortalised through the release of stirring footage. The event celebrated the ship’s departure and included a traditional coin ceremony, a maritime ritual believed to bring good luck to the vessel.
Silversea’s CEO, Roberto Martinoli, expressed his excitement, highlighting the ship’s potential to build upon the success of its predecessor, the Silver Muse. He stated that from 2020, the Silver Moon aims to unlock immersive new travel experiences worldwide. This vessel, with its opulent design, is expected to set new standards in luxury cruising, surpassing its class.
Echoing the sentiments of innovation, Silversea’s executive chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre, envisioned the Silver Moon bringing the cruise line’s founder’s dream closer to reality. With five ships currently on order, Silversea looks forward to expanding their fleet further with the support of Royal Caribbean Cruises. This year also marks Silversea’s 25 years as pioneers in ultra-luxury cruising, adding deeper significance to the occasion.
The Silver Moon showcases a design that mirrors its flagship, the Silver Muse, yet with notable enhancements. Public spaces such as the Dolce Vita lounge, the Connoisseur’s Corner, the Pool Deck, and the Spa and Fitness Centre are set to undergo comprehensive redesigns, promising guests an elevated experience.
The ship’s dining offerings will also receive upgrades, with the Kaiseki and La Dame restaurants undergoing transformation, incorporating bespoke elements such as Lalique crystal panels. Additionally, the ship promises to innovate with its ‘Sea and Land Taste’ (S.A.L.T.) programme, designed to spotlight the culinary diversity of its various ports.
Scheduled for launch in August 2020, the Silver Moon’s maiden journey will take guests from Trieste to Rome, inaugurating its season in the Mediterranean. Following this, the ship is set to traverse to the Americas in November and undertake a grand South American tour in 2021, visiting diverse destinations across 20 countries.
This launch marks a new era in ultra-luxury cruising as Silversea continues to lead with visionary travel experiences.
