Marella Cruises is expanding its adults-only offerings due to rising demand. The Marella Discovery will join the Marella Explorer 2 as a child-free ship from summer 2026. This decision was influenced by market research indicating a significant preference for adult-only experiences among customers. The ship will embark on three new itineraries from Limassol, Cyprus. Bookings are now open for these exclusive voyages.
Marella Cruises has announced that its vessel, the Marella Discovery, will transition to an adults-only ship by summer 2026. This strategic move responds to the growing demand for adult-oriented holiday experiences, paralleling the success of the already established adults-only ship, the Marella Explorer 2.
The decision to make Marella Discovery child-free is underpinned by consumer research, revealing that 75% of customers consider adult-only cruising options pivotal when selecting their travel plans. With these insights, Marella aims to attract a wider audience, particularly new customers who may have been hesitant about cruising in a mixed-age environment.
The ship will offer three distinct itineraries, allowing guests to explore the captivating landscapes and cultures of Greece, Cyprus, and Turkey. The departure point for these journeys will be Limassol in Cyprus, a hub known for its rich history and picturesque coastlines.
Bookings for these new itineraries have commenced, with prices starting at £1,528 per person. This offering is expected to capture the interest of travellers seeking a serene and sophisticated cruise experience, free from the distractions that family-oriented cruises might present.
Chris Hackney, the managing director of Marella Cruises, commented on this expansion, “This addition to the summer 2026 programme will allow customers who prefer an adult-only ship a variety of itineraries to explore the sights of Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.” By augmenting its fleet of adult-only ships, Marella Cruises anticipates not only meeting current demand but also stimulating further interest in their unique cruise experiences.
Marella Cruises is poised to enhance its market position by doubling its offering of adult-only cruise ships by 2026.
